Welcome to the Estate Conflicts Blog!

Business handshakeHello, and welcome to the newest blog from the law firm of LeClairRyan. My name is Will Sleeth and I serve as the editor of the blog. Joining me in writing for the blog will be several other attorneys from LeClairRyan who either focus a part of their practice on estate litigation, or focus on areas of the law that intersect with estate litigation (such as estate planning, family law, etc.).

This blog is dedicated to all things relating to estate conflicts. It will focus on topics such as will disputes, trust disputes, elder law disputes, and guardianship disputes. We will blog about laws relating to those issues (including tips on how to deal with, or try to avoid, estate disputes) famous estate disputes, and celebrity estate disputes as covered by the media.

Who are the target readers of this blog? Many people. Individuals who find themselves involved in estate conflicts; individuals who find family members or friends potentially confronting an estate conflict; estate planning attorneys who do not handle estate litigation, but want to know more about the law relating to it; trust officers who want to ensure that they’re fulfilling their fiduciary duties; financial advisors who want a resource for their clients; reporters and other media personnel who need a resource for a deeper understanding of the laws governing estate conflicts; and anyone in the general population who is interested in learning from the mistakes that others make, so that they can do their best to avoid a dispute arising from their estate plan.

While many of the attorneys who write for this blog work out of LeClairRyan’s numerous Virginia offices, this blog will be national in scope. Therefore, while a discussion of Virginia law will certainly play an important role in this blog, we will discuss laws of many other states, and blog about estate disputes in other states too.
